PURPOSE:The titled high-molecular compound useful in the production of radioactive metal-labeled radiodiagnostic agents, prepared by reacting polyacrolein with a bifunctional ligand compound containing amino groups and, if necessary, condensing the product with a hydroxyalkylamine. CONSTITUTION:The aldehyde groups of polyacrolein of formula I , produced by, for example, the redox polymerization of acrolein, are reacted with a functional ligand compound containing amino groups (e.g., deferoxamine or ethylenediaminetriacetic acid) and, if necessary, the reaction product is further condensed with a hydroxyalkylamine to form the purpose reactive high-molecular compound of formula II, wherein X is an amino group reaction residue of the bifunctional ligand compound containing amino groups, k is 2-4,000, l is 0-4,000, m is 1-4,000, k+l+m=3-4,000, R is -CH2OH, -CH=N-(CH2)n-OH, or the like, and n is 1-5.
