PURPOSE: To save energy consumption by enabling ironing and pressing a sewed side edge in accordance with a widely mechanized execution process by means of a method for gently treating a base material without introducing ironing steam or another damping medium. CONSTITUTION: In an operating station 1 with a lower shoe, both trousers are adhered onto longitudinal members 8, 9 and 10, 11, fixed with a sucking nozzle 12 for preventing a deviation and also fixed by the weight of respective shaped steel wire materials 16 and 17 pressurizing holders 22 and 23. Then the station 1 is drawn into a sewed part ironing station 3 by intensive program control and synchronized till four nondamp sewed side edge pairs including the bending part of sewing are perfectly extended to the same degree by the electrically heated ironing members 26-29 of he sewed side edge part and a prescribed elevating motion is executed. The temp. of the members 26-29 is selected steplessly and a time is set in a device case 30.
