PURPOSE:To make it possible to grasp always a state of grease accurately with safety without troubling hands or feet of an operator by mounting optical fiber cables on the external wall of a sump gathering the grease to grease a bearing of an electric rotating machine. CONSTITUTION:A light emitted by a light emission device 14 is conducted by an optical fiber state 11 for an irradiation light to be irradiated to the inside of a grease pocket 6 from each of monitoring holes 9 and 10. A light reflected from a reflector 13 through the inside of the grease pocket 6 is conducted by an optical fiber cable 12 for a reflecting light to reach a photoelectric converter 15, and an electric signal correspondent to the amount is amplified by an amplifier 16 to provide to a light amount indicator 17. According to the constitution, a time necessary to supplement and exchange grease 5, etc., can be obtained easily and accurately.
