Lactobacillus casei ssp. casei strain 37 (USSR accession no. VKPM V-4914) is claimed for the prodn. of a bacterial biological prepn.. Strain 37 was isolated from healthy human faeces using a selection medium contg. 0.05 g/l MnSO4, 0.2 g/l MgSO4, 2 g/l K2HPO4, 5 g/l NaOAc, 2 g/l NH4 citrate, 2 g/l glucose, 10 g/l peptone, 5 g/l tryptone, 1 g/l Tween 80, 0.2 g/l cystine, 50 g/l yeast autolysate, 100 g/l liver extract, 0.4 g/l sorbic acid and 25 g/l agar.
