Date Aug. 20, 1992.Compounds of formula (I) IMAGE in which A is (CH2)n in which n is 1-10, preferably 3 or 5, and R is the acyl group from a known anti-inflammatory agent, exhibit high anti-inflammatory activity. The mechanism of action is novel because they do not release the anti-inflammatory agent in the body but exhibit an activity superior to the activity of the known anti-inflammatory agent. The compounds are also active in combating bone calcium loss.
