A template for evaluating lottery tickets or the like, consisting of a flat rectangular sheath which is open at least at one narrow side and into which between front part and back part the lottery ticket or the like is insertable and which has in the front part at least one viewing window made of inscribable material and has at the open narrow side an approximately semicircular recess, in which respect the semicircular recess is arranged in the lower third on the front and back part (1, 2) of the sheath and the viewing window (8) is arranged above the recess in such a way that the extension of the lateral boundary (9) of the viewing window at the side facing the open narrow side (6) intersects the semicircular recess, characterised in that at the edge of the narrow side (4) averted from the semicircular recess (7) a longitudinal groove (13) is arranged on the reverse of the back part (2) of the sheath and in that the upper side (12) of the back part (2) is smooth in design and the lower side (11) of the front part (1) is roughened in design.
