The pressure wave system is for a naturally aspirated multi-cylinder piston engine. It uses a collector tube in thrust nozzle form. The empty volume of a long Helmoltz-resonator enables oscillations of an air column and determines the frequency of the pressure wave, and is located centrally in the long tube, which forms the downstream section of the exhaust pipe. USE/ADVANTAGE - Pressure wave system for IC engine exhaust increases power without increasing atmospheric pollution.
