The monitor supervises the working of a centrifuge comprising an oscillatory part and a fixed part. At least one measuring device is provided to measure the deflection of the oscillatory part w.r.t. to a central position and to control the drive motor (4) in dependence on the amt. of deflection measured. A circuit divides the measurement value into static and dynamic component. An evaluating circuit converts at least the dynamic component for control purposes. Pref., the evaluating circuit consists of a comparison circuit (18) for comparison with a reference value and generation of a control signal to switch off the drive motor. ADVANTAGE - Higher measuring accuracy simplifying recognition of dangerous working conditions.
