A spectral analysis method involves the use of a filter bank which receives the input signal and divides it up into a predefined number of frequency groups and performs Fast Fourier Transformation on the individual output signals. The length of the analysis window is matched to the required frequency resolution for each partial band signal to produce a spectral representation with a quasilogarithmic frequency resolution and a high time resolution. USE/ADVANTAGE - Enables time and frequency resolution capability of human hearing to be taken into account to achieve hearing-related spectral analysis.
