Wires (10) are positioned in a slot (14) in a first former (13) corresp. to a saddle coil's shape. Adhesive material and a second former (16) are applied to the wires and first former respectively. The adhesive is hardened and the saddle coil removed from the formers. Several saddle coils are attached to a shaped core fitted in a hollow body on which a solenoid coil is wound. Resin is applied and hardened and the core and hollow body removed to leave the gradient field core arrangement. USE/ADVANTAGE - Gradient field core arrangement is made with high positional accuracy of coils.
