A process is claimed for the artificial surface-colouring of ordinary sand or any grey mineral aggregate (I), and for applying synthetic resin plasters, fillers and building mosaics, etc. contg. coloured (I). The colouring material (II) is claimed. A suitable surface-colouring compsn. is pref. obtd., e.g. by mixing 100 pts. wt. dry natural sand/silica sand (dia. about 3mm) with 4 pts. wt. of a 5% soln. of methylsilicone resin in petroleum ether or other solvent and 0.2 pt. wt. pigment, and drying as above. (No examples given). USE/ADVANTAGE - The process (and material (II)) are useful in the above building applications, and (II) can also be sprinkled loose on roofs, terraces, gardens, etc. (claimed). The invention provides a simple process for colouring grey aggregate materials in a wide range of colours to give a decorative prod.; the particles do not stick together, and min. amts. of silicone resin soln. and pigment are used, which shortens their drying time and reduces the amt. of sovlent evapd..
