The invention relates to a simple, safe and easy to handle mechanism for locking a nut against inadvertent loosening. BR/ The body (18) of a pyrometer is surrounded by a locking nut (31) which is screwed onto a sighting tube of the pyrometer. The nut contains a ratchet mechanism formed of two coaxial rings (36, 37) whose opposite edges are sawtoothed and are pressed axially against each other by means of a spring (40). One (36) of the rings is integral in rotation with the nut (31), with a pin (49) engaged in a groove (48) of the ring. The other ring (37) is pressed by a spring (42) against a washer (51) fixed to the body (18), with which it forms a friction clutch. The ratchet mechanism prevents loosening of the nut (31) until the frictional force of the clutch (50) is overcome. BR/ Application: locking nuts subjected to vibrations. / P
