PURPOSE:To obtain food additives containing high concentration ionized calcium and improved in taste by adding an aqueous solution of lactic acid to a water suspension of alkaline ionized calcium composition powder and dissolving the suspended powder in the aqueous solution while stirring. CONSTITUTION:Powder of oyster shell or scallop shell is heated to 500-1200 deg.C and electricity having about 600V is applied to the powder to decompose CaCO3 into CaO and CO2 and then powdered to provide an ionized calcium composition having 200-300 mesh average grain size. Then, 10-35ml aqueous solution of lactic acid whose concentration is 10-30vol.% is added to a suspension obtained by suspending =2.4g of the above-mentioned composition in 90-65ml water and the suspended powder is dissolved in the aqueous solution while stirring.
