NON-CHROMATE SURFACE-TREATING AGENT FOR ALUMINUM AND ITS TREATMENT

PURPOSE:To obtain and apply a corrosion-protective surface-treating agent free of chromium and extremely effective for aluminum and its alloy. CONSTITUTION:The surface-treating agent of this invention is an aq. acidic soln. contg. water, 0.8-1.2wt.% H2ZrF6, 0.08-0.12wt.% dispersible silica, 0.08-0.12 wt.% of water-soluble or dispersible 3-(N-methyl-N-2-hydroxyethylaminomethyl)-4- hydroxy-styrene monomer and 0.10-0.15wt.% 1-propoxy-2-propanol. The surface to be treated is brought into contact with the agent and then dried without being rinsed. A conventional org. coating film is advantageously applied on the treated surface.
