MANUFACTURE OF SINTERED ALUMINA ABRASIVE GRAIN

摘要

PURPOSE:To manufacture a sintered alumina abrasive grain having a decreased number of cracks and a high strength inexpensively by mixing clay into a fine powder of specified alumina under specified conditions and forming and sintering the mixture. CONSTITUTION:Clay (e.g. bentionite) is mixed into finely powdered high-purity alumina having a purity of 98wt.% or above so that the content of SiO2 in the final abrasive grain amounts to 0.05-3.0wt.% and then the mixture is formed and sintered.
