JAPANESE PRONUNCIATION DETERMINING METHOD FOR FOREIGN LANGUAGE WORD

PURPOSE:To determine a pronunciation without using any pronunciation dictionary by converting the foreign language word in foreign language expression into Roman letters by applying an expression/Roman letter conversion rule, converting the Roman letters into KANA (Japanese syllabary) letters by applying a Roman letter-KANA conversion rule, and then determining the rendering as a Japanese word. CONSTITUTION:The expression (spelling) of the foreign language word in foreign language expression is converted into the Roman letters (intermediate language) according to the expression/Roman letter conversion rule 24 which is previously prepared. Then the Roman letters are converted into KANA letters according to the Roman letter/KANA conversion rule 25 which is previously prepared and the rendering (KANA letters) of the foreign language word as Japanese is determined. Consequently, the pronunciation of the foreign language expression word as Japanese can be determined automatically without using any pronuncia tion dictionary.
