PURPOSE:To facilitate the adjustment of an origin at the mounting by providing an origin mark representing =2 origins whose interval is 2pi/theta or below to a disk fitted to an input shaft at an equal interval on the circumference. CONSTITUTION:Origin marks 1b1-1b6 representing =2 origins whose interval is 2pi/theta or below are provided to a rotary disk 1 at an equal interval on the circumference in the incremental rotary encoder whose detecting angle theta is piradian or below. Through the constitution above, number of origin marks 1b1-1b6 of the rotary encoder with respect to the detection angle theta is 2 for theta=pi, 3 for theta=2/3pi, 6 for theta=1/3pi, 9 for theta=2/9pi 12 for theta=1/6pi, 18 for theta=1/9pi and 36 for 1/18pi. Thus, when the input shaft 2 is driven within a range of detection angle theta, the origin marks 1b1-1b6 are always detected and the adjustment of origin alignment at the mount is facilitated.
