MAGNETIC COATING COMPOUND SMOOTHER FOR MAGNETIC RECORDING MEDIUM AND SMOOTHING METHOD

PURPOSE:To smooth a coated and undried magnetic coating compd. without orienting the same in the specified direction without contact by forming plural magnetic fields which are perpendicular to a nonmagnetic surface and are alternately different in directions onto plural pieces of magnetic pole lines formed in charged magnetic parts. CONSTITUTION:A roll made of a nonmagnetic metal is used as a magnetic coating compd. smoother 1 and the peripheral surface of the roll is the nonmagnetic surface 2. The line-like charged magnetic parts 3, 3... are arrayed in a twill shape along the circumferential direction of the surface 2. The intersecting angles theta1, theta2... of the adjacent parts 3 and 3 are adequately in a 15-30 deg. range and are respectively slightly varied from each other. Respectively three lines each of the magnetic pole lines 4, 4... are formed to the respective parts 3, 3... and the same magnetic poles like S and S or N and N are disposed on both sides.
