PROCESS FOR THE PRODUCTION OF MEDICAL PREPARATIONS CONTAINING 4-/N,N-DIBENZYL-AMINO/-BUTYRIC ACID OR BUTYRIC AMID AS ACTIVE AGENT, OR THEIR MEDICALLY USEFUL SALTS
A cpd. is claimed characterised in that it acts selectively as an agonist of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) at GABA autoreceptor. - The cpd. may have formula (Ia) (E = lower alkyl or Ar'-A'; Ar, Ar' = opt. substd. aryl; A,A' = 1-2C alkylene each opt. substd. by lower alkyl or opt. substd. aryl; B = 3-4C alkylene which may be substd. by lower alkyl; D' = COOH or CONR1R2; R1,R2 = H, lower alkyl or 7-12C aralkyl). - Also claimed are mono- and di-(arylalkyl) amine derivs. of formula (I) and their salts (D = as for D' or CN, COhal, CH2OH, CHO or an ester function COOR; R may be e.g. opt. substd. alkyl, aralkyl, or aryl; providing that (i) neither Ar-A or E is unsubstd. benzyl and (ii) when B is (CH2)4 and D is CN then E is other than methyl, ethyl or p-chlorobenzyl).
