New imidazoquinoxaline compounds having the formula CHEM wherein X is CH, Chalogen or N; and R3 is CHEM or CO2R min wherein R min is C1-6 alkyl, C3-7 cycloalkyl or (C1-6 alkoxy)methyl are useful in psychopharmaceutical preparations as anticonvulsants, anxiolytics and hypnotics, and in improving the cognitive function of the brain of mammals.
