ULTRASOUND IMAGING SYSTEM FOR RELATIVELY LOW-VELOCITYBLOOD FLOW AT RELATIVELY HIGH FRAME RATESAbstract of the DisclosureAn ultrasound blood flow imaging system employing amoving-target-type Doppler processor having a passband extend-ing from zero hertz to the repetition frequency of the pulsesgenerated and processed during each beam. The system is ableto image low-velocity blood flow by reducing the frequency atwhich pulses are generated and processed during each beam, thereby increasing the gain of the flow processor at lowfrequencies. In order to avoid a corresponding decrease in theframe rate, the ultrasound pulses for several beams are alter-nately generated and processed in interleaved sequence ratherthan generating and processing all of the ultrasound pulses foreach beam before generating and processing ultrasound pulsesfor the next beam.
