Measurement value acquisition system for intelligent sensors - has multiplexer successively connecting practically unlimited number of sensors to central computer

The measurement value acquisition system extracts digital information from and passes it to the sensors (19-27) using a central controller, e.g. a computer. Several intelligent sensors are connected to several common serial busses (6-8) which are successively connected to the central controller via a multiplexer (5). The central controller (1) has a memory contg. the operating characteristics of the sensors. Data communications are synchronised and the newly connected bus is configured after the multiplexer has switched from one bus to another. USE/ADVANTAGE - E.g. in chemical manufacture or for quality control in motor vehicle manufacture. Fast and enables practically any number of sensors to communicate with computer.
