The automatically reversing freewheel clutch (1) for two driving directions has two clutch parts namely a clutch hub (2) and rotatable clutch sleeve (3) which can be connected together by locking pawls (4) which can be controlled by a control device (28). The control device has an adjustable control ring (24) and a switch ring with control curve (28), and also a spring-tensioned switch cam (30) which is locally fixed. There are two retaining stops (34,35) of which one is deactivated in the drive direction against the switch cam and is activated for the other turning direction, and comprises one or more bending springs (7). When the switching cam runs onto the retaining stop the control ring is turned relative to the clutch sleeve and causes the locking pawls to displace to reverse the direction of rotation. ADVANTAGE - The reversal of the direction of rotation is controlled automatically independently of the turning direction of the driving clutch part.
