The fuel (14) delivers its heat energy in an under-stoichiometric combustion and thereafter a below-stoichiometric combustion takes place. The ignition of the fuel takes place using an electric arc. When the reaching of a desired temp. of the water heated up by the heat exchanger (30), the supply of fuel (14) to the combustion chamber (50) is interrupted. A storage silo and a conveyor are provided for the fuel, as well as a combustion chamber and a first grate (55) with openings for the supply of the combustion air, an exhaust gas chimney (20), and an afterburning chamber arranged after the combustion chamber. An exhaust flow monitor probe (23) electrically connected with the process regulator (44) is provided in the exhaust gas chimney (20). ADVANTAGE - Technical firing efficiency is improved and noxious exhaust gas emissions are prevented.
