The method involves selectively increasing the flow velocity of the exhaust gas in the exhaust gas line (6), which increases the pressure difference that is obtained by an opened outlet (4). The pressure difference is obtained between the outlet of a selected cylinder (2) and the exhaust gas line in comparison to the pressure difference between the outlet of another non-selected cylinder and the exhaust gas line.
