A conductor (2) extends along the axis of the cylindrical metallic cladding (1) between insulating supports (3). Particles (4) of swarf left on the internal surface after mfr. are drawn by the effect of the radial electric field (Eo) towards the surfaces (6) of the supports (3) at which a risk of partial discharge arises. To overcome this, a barrier (7) is set up in the form of a labyrinth seal of parallel insulating plates (8) in radial planes. ADVANTAGE - All dielectrically highly-stressed points are protected with greater safety against impact of electrically conductive particles in the insulating gas.
