In the surface-finishing of metallic materials by forming a surface layer of upto 3mm thick using an laser beam in an alloying process, the novelty is that a high-alloyed, amorphous metal foil, whose alloy content is determined by the degree of mixing with the base material, is used in the alloying process. USE/ADVANTAGE - The process is used in welding and is an uncomplicated one-step process.
