Sheet, partic. for load-bearing parts of motor vehicles, is mfd. from two sheets of different thickness (12, 13) and/or of different material, which are placed together, one above the other, in a stamping press, in which they are clamped between a blank holder and a die. The shearing punch shears through part of the upper sheet (12a) which thereby shears and ejects part of the inner sheet (13a). The upper sheared section is held in position and the assembly is removed for butt welding. ADVANTAGE - Low cost mfr. process.
