Automatic headlamp dipping circuit for motor vehicle - uses measured incident light intensity to switch between main and dipped headlamp beam

The headlamps dipping circuit uses a sensor providing a signal representing the incident light intensity, supplied to an automatic switching device allowing the main beam to be switched off and the dipped beam to be switched on and vice versa. This allows the main beam to be used when required, without dazzling other road users. Pref. the incident light intensity is measured via semiconductor photo cells, providing an output voltage which is compared with max. and min. threshold values. ADVANTAGE - Ensures immediate dipping of headlamp to prevent dazzling other drivers.
