Cross country ski binding with aperture for ski boot pin - has slide carriage fixed and released by spring lock with angled stud, lever and compression member
Cross country ski binding with aperture for ski boot pin - has slide carriage fixed and released by spring lock with angled stud, lever and compression member
The step-in cross country-ski binding has a pin fixed to the ski-boot and fitting into an aperture (5) when the slide-carriage (1) is open. A lock (14) releases the carriage after the pin has been inserted into the hole, and is in the form of a spring with an angled stud (15) gripping behind the carriage end-wall. The carriage (1) end-wall (2) defines the hole (5) and has, in its bottom centre, an aperture through which the lock fits. A lever (10), rotatably secured to one end of the binding housing or to the ski, is attached, a little way from its pivot-axle (9), to a compression member (1) attached by its other end to the carriage. USE/ADVANTAGE - A ski-boot is more easily fixed into the ski-binding by having a lock operating as soon as the carriage is moved into an open position against the force of a spring until the pin fits into an aperture.
