Writing and reading strips (I) for photoprinter or scanner comprises (I) consisting of a cold cathode positioned in a vacuum-tight evacuated vessel and a light source separated by an electron-accelerating chamber. The cold cathode of a MISM-thin layer series positioned on an insulating substrate consists of metallic base electrode, insulator film, semiconductor film and is vertical for the lengthwise expansion of the metallic covering electrode strips of the base electrode. The covering electrode strips in the cross-sectional regions of the base and covering electrode strips are reduced to max. 40 nm. An electrode is positioned either on the side of the light source facing the cold cathode or on the other side. ADVANTAGE - The building component is small, has sufficient brightness and is easily controllable.
