The milling involves the use of a single tooth milling cutter (6) rotating about is axis inside the sleeve (8), which rotates about its own axis parallel to the cutter. The cutter tooth (32) has the same profile as the pocket cross-section. Because the milling cutter is rotated at a higher speed than the workpiece, the cutter scoops out grooves around the bore of the sleeve. The circumferential curved profile of the pocket has a smaller radius than that of the milling cutter.
