The mechanism consists of a milling cutter (10) which is held at approximately right angles to the axis of the bore of the tube (100). The cutter mechanism is caused to rotate about the axis of the bore of the tube when machining. The cutter may be inclined to the axis of the bore of the tube in order to chamfer its end, and or the entire machine assembly may be clamped to the tube at an angle so as to enable the end to be machined at other than a right angled to the bore axis.
