The method is for determining the noise component occurring inside the vehicle caused by the pump of a servo system, e.g. a servo hydraulic assisted steering system. At a test bed, the pressure pulses occurring at the output of the pump are measured and are compared with at least one specified limit value for evaluating the loudness of the servo steering system. The pressure pulsations for determining the loudness of the humming noise on the one hand, and for determining the hissing and whistling noises on the other hand, are measured with different static pump pressures and rotational speeds. ADVANTAGE - Tolerable and untolerable noises can be reliably identified.
