Between its halves (2a,2b) the handle is able to grip and retain a disposable cutting blade (K) with one or two matching openings. The halves can be bowed at their joining section to define a blade holding region (4) differentiated from the region held by the user's hand. The halves are joined at an end at which the blade is not held. The first half (2a) can be slid along a short path in the length direction onto the second half in order to increase or change the blade holding region. A hook mechanism at the ends of both halves holds the blade between them. This mechanism has a plug part that penetrates an opening in the blade and engages a receptor part (15). ADVANTAGE - Single hand use yet facilitating fine pathological sample cutting.
