A yarn winding machine has a common spindle for several tubes on which to wind a reel by traverse motion. On a reel changeover, the yarn is brought out of the traverse guide into a reserve guide by mechanism held on a bracket, which has a combined lateral movement and swivel action. Pref. the crossbar (10) is actuated in order to remove the yarn from the traverse motion guide, and it is brought into the zone between pin (14) and the guide (15). The pin (14) is anchored to the square bar (12), which can move laterally in the holder (13) which is fixed to the bracket (16) screwed to the framework. This enables the pin (14) to be moved towards the guide (15), in the direction of the arrow. The square bar (12) also turns in the holder (13) which forms a bearing for this purpose. The pin (14) will encounter the yarn pushed into the zone by crossbar (10). The guide (15) is made of ceramic, and is attached to the swivel bearing (13) in such a manner that it may be swivelled out of the way when yarn is being traverse wound, or down into a position necessary to wind a reserve at the time of removal of a full reel (7), and a new tube (9) is being placed on the driving spindle (8). USE/ADVANTAGE - The construction is economical, and identical at each reel, in a manner without interference with the yarn when being traverse wound.
