This apparatus is of the type including a base (3) supporting two platforms (10) to which are associated means capable of moving them with a translational movement upwards and towards the front, and then downwards and simultaneously towards the rear of the apparatus and, simultaneously, with an alternating (reciprocal) rotational movement, in order to simulate a walking movement. Each platform (10) constitutes the upper horizontal side of a deformable parallelogram, the lower horizontal side of which consists of a frame (12) fastened on a horizontal slideway (14) articulated on a stationary vertical pivot (17a) and supporting a movable slide (13) which rests, by means of a journal of vertical axis, on a carriage (20) controlled so as to follow a curved horizontal rolling path (21), the pivoting horizontal slideway (14) supporting a first leading spindle (screw) (29) and its means (26) for driving in rotation, which first leading spindle (29) is engaged in a nut integral with the slide (13) mounted on the pivoting slideway (14) while two diagonally opposed articulation shafts (35, 36) of the deformable parallelogram form a support, the lower one (35) for the bearing of a second leading spindle (28) and its means (25) for driving in rotation, and the other upper one (36) for a nut (40) engaged on this second leading spindle (28).
