PASSENGER CONVEYOR SAFETY DEVICE FOR MAINTENANCE WORK

PURPOSE: To secure safety in maintenance and inspection of a passenger conveyer by mounting a stop switch on either of a railing at the boarding place and a handrail and a switch actuator piece on the other, and generating automatic stopping when the stepboard on which the operator stands, has approached the boarding place. ;CONSTITUTION: The main contact R₂ of a safety device checking relay R₂ is installed in series to a motor starting relay R₁, while a group of stop switches 2 of safety device and a stop switch 3 of maintenance safety device are installed in series to another safety device checking relay R₂. When the escalator is subjected to maintenance and inspection, the stop switch 3 is fixed to a railing 12 near the lower boarding place and connected with the group of stop switches 2 through a lead 11 drawn out of under a boarding place board 10, while a switch actuator piece 4 is secured onto a handrail 5 facing the stop switch 3 in a position near the upper boarding place. Accordingly the switch actuator piece 4 moves nearer when the escalator is in the downward operation so as to actuate the stop switch 3, and thereby the escalator operation is stopped automatically.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1993,JPO&Japio
