PURPOSE: To deepen the depth of machining as well as to stabilize machining by giving compsite ultrasonic micro vibration to a work. ;CONSTITUTION: A work 3 is immersed in machining fluid 2 contained in the machining tub 1 of an electric discharge machine. Furthermore, an ultrasonic vibration transmitting bar 6 is attached to an electrode 5, composite ultrasonic micro vibrations which are out of phase with the machining surface of the work 3 in both the directions of X and Y vertical and horizontal to the machining surface respectively, are given to the ultrasonic vibration transmitting bar 6 complexly in both the directions, and the composite ultrasonic micro vibrations are then given to the work 3 via the electrode 5. By this constitution, electric discharge machining is kept stable with a discharge condition improved, concurrently surface roughness is made excellent, and the depth of the machining is thereby deepened.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1993,JPO&Japio
