PURPOSE:To provide a backwheat beverage having a remarkable vasodepressor activity, a composition thereof for extraction, and a method for the production thereof. CONSTITUTION:A buckwheat composition for beverage extraction, comprising a mixture of a buckwheat roasted product obtained by roasting the threshold seeds and/or ground product of buckwheat with washed and sterilized raw buckwheat seeds and/or threshold seeds the starch component of which is converted into the alpha form with heated steam. A buckwheat extract beverage comprising mainly the hot water extract or warm water extract of the buckwheat composition. The beverage has a good taste as a soft drink, and the daily drinking of the beverage permits to expect a circular disease-preventing effect.
