PURPOSE: To stably produce the Fe-Al alloy sheet free from surface crack defects by directly and continuously casting an Fe alloy contg. an Fe3Al intermetallic compd. to a sheet form, then subjecting this sheet to a heat treatment under specific conditions. ;CONSTITUTION: An inert gaseous atmosphere of Ar, etc., is maintained within a hermetic chamber 7 and the molten alloy of the compsn. contg., by atomic %, over 25% to 30% Al or further, contg. 2 to 6% Cr and consisting of the balance Fe is put into a crucible 1. The molten alloy is poured via a tundish 2 into a pouring basin part 5 formed of twin rolls 3 and a side dam 4 and is directly and continuously cast to the Fe-Al alloy sheet 6 contg. the Fe3Al intermetallic compd. by twin rolls 3, 3. After the continuously cast sheet 6 right after emission from the twin rolls 3 is held for 1 to 20 minutes at 900 to 1000°C, the sheet is cooled down to ≤200°C at ≤200°C/hour cooling rate and is further subjected to a high-temp. hydrostatic press down treatment under the conditions of ≥1000°C and ≥1000atm.
