NONCONSUMABLE NOZZLE TYPE TWO-ELECTRODE ELECTROSLAG WELDING METHOD

PURPOSE: To obtain satisfactory and uniform penetration free from weld defects in electroslag welding of extremely thick steels. ;CONSTITUTION: Two-electrode feed nozzles are oscillated in the same direction in the parallel direction of arrangement thereof at the same time, one electrode and the other electrode are stopped at a groove end and in the vicinity of the central part of a groove, respectively, a welding current and the welding voltage of each electrode are made to the same condition and further, the feed nozzles are pulled up and driven so that welding wire extension where the welding current attains a target current value is maintained. In electroslag welding of the extremely thick steels, the simple and uniform penetration is obtained and a faultless weld zone having excellent toughness is obtained.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1993,JPO&Japio
