PURPOSE: To improve the picture quality of the X-ray television camera by providing a means controlling a multiple factor of avalanche multiplication of an image pickup element and an iris of an optical system of the X-ray television camera to the device. ;CONSTITUTION: An image pickup element of a television camera 7 is an avalanche operation type image pickup tube 10 and its incident face is made of an amorphous selenium group optical conductor. Furthermore, the controller 8 of the television camera 7 is provided with a means entering a desired X-ray sensitivity or an X-ray latitude in addition to the usual signal processing function and with a means selecting the avalanche multiple factor of the image pickup element 10 of the X-ray television camera and the optimum setting condition of the iris 7a of the optical system in response to the input. Then the latitude at the X-ray pickup is adjusted by controlling the avalanche multiple factor of the image pickup element 10 and the iris 7a of the optical system in the X-ray television camera is controlled to adjust the sensitivity at the X-ray pickup.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1993,JPO&Japio
