PURPOSE: To stabilize the color tone of a lamp, and prolong a lamp life, by adding the specific quantity of krypton to a neon filling material including the mercury of a negative glow discharge lamp. ;CONSTITUTION: A fluorescent coating 15 is formed on the envelope 10 of a negative glow/discharge lamp, and has an ionizable medium for radiating a ultraviolet ray at the time of excitation. This ionizable medium is a gaseous filling material composed of neon containing mercury, thereto krypton is added; and the adding quantity of the krypton is made less than five % of the gaseous filling material. The color tone of the discharge lamp can be stabilized to prolong the lamp life, by adding the krypton to a neon filling gas.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1993,JPO
