MACHINE TRANSLATION SYSTEM PROVIDED WITH MECHANISM FOR REFLECTING LAYOUT INFORMATION OF SOURCE SENTENCE UPON TRANSLATED SENTENCE

PURPOSE:To provide the machine translation system which can efficiently edit translated sentences by reflecting layout information attached to source sentences upon the translated sentences. CONSTITUTION:A document 1 prepared by a document editor is inputted to a document transforming device A2, layout information 3 and character information is extracted, and the layout information is preserved in a layout information storage device 4. The information is inputted to a translation device 5 as character information source sentences, and information 7 describing the position information of translated sentences 7 translated words and source words corresponding to the respective translated words is outputted. Information 1, 3, 6 and 7 is inputted to a translated sentence output device 8, and layout information 9 of translated sentence is outputted. A document transforming device B10 inputs the information 6 and 9 and transforms the document into a format defined for each document editor.
