SYSTEM FOR ESTIMATING TWO-DIMENSIONAL MOVING FIELD FROM TIME SEQUENTIAL IMAGE

PURPOSE:To obtain a high-accuracy two-dimensional velocity field by executing suitable control for minimizing an evaluation function adaptively to observed noise to be changed by the local character of an image. CONSTITUTION:This two-dimensional moving field estimating system for estimating the suitable apparent moving field of the moving image based on evaluation conditions composed of spatial and time luminance gradient and the moving field of the image between two pictures is provided with a dispersion estimating circuit 6 for extracting the dispersing value of the noise of an observation system and a moving field extraction circuit 8 for extracting the suitable apparent moving field by repeating the extraction of the moving field based on this dispersing value and the spatial/time luminance gradient and the judgment of the validity of the extracted moving field based on the evaluation conditions using the extracted moving field, dispersing value and spatial/time luminance gradient.
