PURPOSE: To efficiently pickle off only an oxide film without corroding a base metal by adding a specified compd. to the soln. for removing the oxide film on the metal surface consisting of an aq. soln. of inorg. and org. acids. ;CONSTITUTION: An oxide film is formed on the surface of a metallic member due to the hot rolling, heat treatment, etc., of the metal such as steel, and the oxide film is pickled off prior to the succeeding cold rolling, plating, etc. In this case, an aq. soln. of inorg. or org. acids such as sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, phosphoric acid, sulfamic acid, nitric acid, hydrofluoric acid, oxalic acid and citric acid is used as the pickling soln., and at least one kind among butanesulfinic acid, ammonium benzenesulfinate, ethyl benzenesulfinate, butanesulfenyl chloride, butanesulfoxide, butanedisulfone, etc., is added to the pickling soln. by ≥0.001%.
