Device for indicating the level of liquid in a tank (1) under pressure comprises a flat element (13) rigidly connected to a mechanical means (6) capable of rotation externally of the tank as a function of the floating movement where in said element are zones (22) of diverse light-reflecting capacities on the surface (24), an emitting-receiving unit with light emitting diodes (31) and a receiving diode (32) for light reflected from the said surface, a first electronic circuit supplying said diodes and which effects a first amplification of the electric signal received from the receiving diode and a later electronic circuit (16) which amplifies the signal and may emit a voltage VL for supplying an analogue or digital indicator.
