Abstract of the InventionA shuttle guide for a shuttle of a storage andretrieval machine having a mast and a carriage on which theshuttle mounted is disclosed. The shuttle includes firstand second plates movable relative to each other indirections transverse to the mast. The shuttle guidecomprises a first guide member having a downward facingstraight guide surface extending in the transversedirections of movement of the plate means and a second guidemember having an upward facing inclined guide surface withthe inclined guide surface being inclined upwardly relativeto one of the transverse directions. A first guide rollermeans is positioned in engagement with the straight guidemeans and a second guide roller means is positioned suchthat it is engageable with the inclined guide surface andguides one of the moveable plates in an upward inclinationdirection toward a storage space. Thereby downwarddeflection of the plate means caused by the weight of theshuttle and the load is counteracted.
