RETROGRADE CORONARY SINUS CATHETERAbstract of the DisclosureA coronary sinus catheter for the retrogradeinfusion of cardioplegia solutions into the coronarysinus. The catheter is adapted for improved retention inthe coronary sinus. The catheter comprises a cathetertube having infusion, pressure-sensing and balloon-inflation lumens, an inflatable balloon and a pressuresensor tube in fluid communication with the balloon-inflation lumen for sensing pressure in the inflatableballoon. The internal volume of the pressure sensor tubeis relatively non-expansible relative to the internalvolume of the inflation balloon in normal operation of thecatheter. Other aspects of the invention include aconstricted portion in the infusion lumen that is believedto eliminate spraying of fluid through the infusion lumenoutlet(s), and a temperature sensor strip providing adisplay on the catheter of the temperature of the infusedfluid.
